Kid's First Salem Road
Burlington, NJ
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) retained VITETTA to provide architectural and engineering services for the design of this new, freestanding, 8,800 sf pediatric care facility. The facility design was based upon a "prototypical" schematic plan provided by CHOP, which VITETTA was able to successfully adapt and enhance to suit the specific requirements of the Salem Road practice. The new facility replaces an existing structure on the same site of less than one-half the square footage of the new facility. The program included a common entry into separate "well" and "sick" waiting areas controlled by a common reception staff work zone, 15 exam rooms (2-sized as treatment rooms), clinical support spaces (lab, clean, soiled, files, etc.) and staff areas (separate M.D. and business offices, staff breakroom, etc.) All internal spaces were arranged around an efficient "racetrack" corridor system that promoted sharing of common spaces among physicians.
