Temple University identified the need to build a new 10,000 seat, multi-purpose arena, recreation, and community facility to fulfill their growing needs. The 350,000 sf. Recreation and Convocation Center is adaptable so as to accommodate various events and activities. Rows of retractable seating were created to allow for different event configuration. The floor converts to an open exhibition floor that can accommodate various exhibit set-ups. The facility was built by fully recessing the lower deck into the earth to reduce the apparent height and blend with the existing skyline.
