The project, which houses 1,000 students in grades 7 and 8, was designed to incorporate an existing field house owned by the District, which was renovated to provide comprehensive physical education facilities for the school. The building also includes a 500-seat auditorium, and state-of-the-art music, science, and technology facilities. The facility is a truly urban project in that it completely fills its site from property line to property line. In order to accommodate desperately needed staff and faculty at-grade parking, the rear of the building is elevated by one story so parking can occur under the building. The project also includes development of an adjoining field into an outdoor physical education complex for the entire district.
