Pennsylvania State University, The Mateer Building

The Mateer Building houses all academic facilities for The School of Hotel, Restaurant and Recreation Management. Its design integrates a research and production kitchen, computer and technology laboratories, service and wait station, large public dining facility, classrooms, library/resource center, conference rooms, audio/video rooms, locker facilities, faculty support spaces and a fully functional restaurant. The Mateer Building is extremely unique in that it provides dual fuel supply, HVAC systems and lighting systems all monitored to provide a level of research capability unparalleled in the hospitality industry. In essence, The Mateer Building is a living and working laboratory. More specifically, research provisions include ventilation research, behavioral/environmental research, lighting research and kitchen equipment research.
