North Hanover Upper Elementary School

The new 124,000 sf, 5-6 school is located on a 38-acre site and has a capacity for 500 students. The instructional program is based upon a teaching model of three teachers providing instruction in basic curriculum elements to a maximum group size of 70 students. While general instruction areas support a variety of learning activities, specialized instruction in Art, Music, Technology, and Physical Education are provided in centralized core facilities. An improvement design consideration is that core facilities such as Media Center, Gymnasium, Auditorium and Cafeteria can be secured from the rest of the facility for after school hours use by the community. With regard to technology in the new Facility, the design encompasses a structured cabling system and local area network within the School to support all voice, video and data requirements for present and future technologies. The new 5-6 school also contains the following spaces: General Classrooms, Art Classroom, a Choral and Instrumental Music Classroom, Computer Lab, an 800 Seat Auditorium, Cafeteria including a full service Kitchen, Gymnasium with Storage and PE Office and seating for 500 spectators, School Administrative Offices and District Administrative Offices that include the Superintendent’s Office and Business Administrator’s Office.
