The new Judicial Center is to be located within the Capitol Complex area in central Harrisburg within view of the Capitol, filling the last open area in the complex. This new structure, housing the third branch of the Commonwealth’s governing body, will provide approximately 325,000 sf of space for the Judiciary, serving: the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, Prothonotary Middle District Office; the Administrative Office of the Pennsylvania Courts; and the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, with related shared common or support areas. Also included is a 98,000 sf secure parking garage at the basement level. The program provides for three courtrooms within the Commonwealth Courts building component, including an En Banc Courtroom of over 3,000 sf, and two other 2,400 sf Courtrooms. The remainder of the building will furnish space for Judge’s Chambers, Court Administrative office space, a Judicial Library, and a Conference and Educational Training Center serving the Judiciary.
