In 1995, VITETTA was selected to develop a State-Wide Correctional Master Plan, which indicated that conservatively, a total of 1,200 beds were needed to meet the ten-year projections for the state correctional system. The segregation housing is to be broken down into two components - 150 cells of hard security segregation and 150 cells of segregation with the capability to double bunk and be converted to hard security at a later date. Required support and program spaces will be provided in association with the 600 cell expansion. In addition, program functions will be required to serve the entire projected prison population of 2,300 inmates.
