Golden Grove Prison, New Jail and Expansion

VITETTA designed this new 150-bed jail and a 320-bed addition to the Golden Grove Prison in St. Croix USVI.  The 25-acre suburban site is located in seismic zone 4. The design of the new jail utilizes existing support for food service and laundry located in the existing prison. Water for public use is collected through a cistern system. The design for both the new jail and prison addition utilized pre-cast elements of construction.The housing units are managed based on direct supervision.  The jail support and administration buildings are located adjacent to the new prison entrance achieving a single vehicular sallyport to serve the prison and jail, providing a single, centralized control point for the facility.
