Cape Regional Medical Center

VITETTA has been providing engineering and architectural and engineering design services to Cape Regional Medical Center since 2005. Representative projects include:

South Lobby Renovation
VITETTA provided full architectural and engineering design services to implement a renovation of the main lobby of the hospital. This phased project renovated approximately 2,000 SF at the main entrance to provide a new reception and greeting desk along with a private work area and office for security and volunteers. The new lobby desk defined the entry, provided a visitor friendly environment and an area for security to monitor visitor flow. The project also included a reworking of the finishes to establish a new “standard” for the hospital.

MRI Addition
VITETTA provided full architectural and engineering design services for this $3.5 million project which provided 1,425 SF of expansion area for the existing Radiology Department and the addition of a new MRI. VITETTA worked closely with the medical center’s senior management to review options for this important and needed services expansion. A swift but thoughtful planning effort reviewed six possible options and presented pros and cons which resulted in an expansion site adjacent to the front lobby of the hospital.

The project was designed and located to allow direct access for outpatients off the main lobby as well as establishing a connection to the existing Radiology Department for staff support areas and provide a discreet entry for the occasional inpatient.

Critical Care Support Core Renovation
VITETTA is currently providing full design services for this $1.2 million project which will renovate 3,825 SF of existing support areas and upgrade the aesthetics of the remaining 3,200 SF of patient rooms. The project goal is to combine separate support spaces such as clean utility, soiled utility, medication prep, nursing stations, etc. for two adjacent eight bed units and create a single sixteen bed critical care unit. VITETTA worked closely with user groups to solicit feedback and gather consensus from physicians, staff and patient families to provide an efficient plan that enhanced staff work flow as well as provide a patient centered atmosphere.

Surgical Services Focused Master Plan
VITETTA is currently providing master planning services to investigate the expansion, possible relocation and modernization of the existing surgical services department. VITETTA is working closely with the medical center’s senior administrative, physician and clinical management teams to review options and priorities required to expand this service. The main focus is to modernize the existing four room inpatient operating suite along with the associated support areas as well as investigate the ability to include an undersized ambulatory surgery area located on the same floor but across very public spaces.
