Southern Ocean County Hospital

VITETTA supported the administrative and clinical teams of this community-based hospital, located near shore towns in New Jersey. Although historically a small clinical service providing needs for a transient summer population, demographic changes within the community placed significant pressures on this facility to alter its developmental direction. VITETTA supported the team with a planning process that:
  • Assessed the existing facility and provided specific recommendations on the assets and limitations of each of the key services provided by the hospital
  • Developed a comprehensive space and facilities program to address prioritized needs, including a complete replacement effort for all of the existing inpatient beds
  • Defined a concept for reorganization of the building's existing circulation system to reduce redundant circulation.
  • Focused on a strategy of vertical development for inpatient beds, thus allowing the "backfill" of support services in old inpatient wings
  • Created a comprehensive site plan encouraging the integration of a future medical office building.
  • Created an image for the hospital as a significant care giving institution within the community.
At the completion of the study, VITETTA moved forward with a renovation and expansion program leading to a complete new replacement bed tower, with significant renovations to diagnostic and support services.
