Jacksonville Public Library
Jacksonville, FL

In the summer of 2001, VITETTA was one of four firms selected to participate in a six-month design competition for the new 291,000 square foot Main Library and 600 space parking garage. In December, the completed designs were presented to the City of Jacksonville. The design parameters were to create a "world class" library that would take Jacksonville into the next century. The design was to be flexible and open, a simple rectangular box, with the sides greater than the width. The Library Director stated in deliberations, that the VITETTA design was the only of that four, that achieved his goal of a flexible library space. He also stated that the VITETTA design was the only design that met the criteria of a "world class" library.
